Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has predicted that Kylian Mbappe could reach Cristiano Ronaldo’s level, especially after his hat-trick against Manchester City.
According to Euro Sports, Mbappe shattered Manchester City’s dream of winning the UEFA Champions League after scoring a brilliant hat-trick in the knockout round.
Real Madrid qualified for the round of 16 after defeating Manchester City 3-1 on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid, Spain.
Following the 26-year-old’s much-anticipated hat-trick, Ancelotti said in the post-match press conference, “Mbappe has the quality to reach Cristiano’s level. He has to work hard because Ronaldo has set the bar very high. He is just getting started at this club.”
He further added, “I believe that with the quality he possesses and the enthusiasm he shows while playing here, he can reach Cristiano Ronaldo’s level. But it won’t be easy for him. He has to work hard.”
Furthermore, Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer. During his nine seasons with the club, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 451 goals in 438 appearances. Meanwhile, Mbappe has so far netted 27 goals in his 37 games for the club.
