KARACHI: A PIA retiree, Shiekh Nizam Uddin, 73, is a man of integrity who prefers making a living by working in a ride-hailing service, over depending on help from anyone, in an economy where elderly cannot afford the luxury of living their old-age disengaged from financial difficulties. But there’s nothing to romanticize here with the life of the bike rider who has a dysfunctional arm and in injured backbone after his accedental fall from the tail of a plane, where he worked as a pantryman in most of the prime of his life.
