Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has filed a new petition with the Islamabad High Court, seeking an urgent hearing for her application to suspend her sentence in the 190 million pound case.
The petition adopts the stance that her case is being “unjustifiably sidelined,” which goes against the principles of justice.
The application emphasizes that the country’s judicial policy clearly dictates that bail applications and pleas for sentence suspension must be heard on a priority basis. Bushra Bibi’s legal team has argued that the failure to schedule her case for a hearing is not only a violation of the Women Protection Act but also contradicts established judgments by the Supreme Court.
The court has been urged to schedule the matter for a hearing as soon as possible. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been named as the respondent in the petition.
