Brooklyn Beckham recently shed light on why he and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, were not present for his mother Victoria’s 51st birthday celebration.
Brooklyn, the eldest son of retired football star David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, not only missed the family’s Thursday gathering but also did not publicly acknowledge his mother’s 51st birthday online.
As fans began to express their concerns, the former model and aspiring photographer, 26, indirectly addressed his absence in a now-deleted Instagram post. This post featured several photos of him and his wife from their time at the Coachella music festival.
“Made amazing memories this year x,” he captioned the post, adding a heart emoji. While the post is no longer visible—possibly due to online criticism—his other posts were quickly filled with comments from concerned and critical followers.
“What is happening? Your wifey doesn’t allow you to say happy bday to your mum?” one user questioned under his third wedding anniversary post shared on April 10.
Another user wrote more harshly, “What kind of a son would always find a reason to hate his own fam while worshiping his wife’s family? Time to unfollow.”
A third fan commented with disappointment, “Shame on you for not posting happy birthday to your mom, you would be nothing without your parents. Stop going through other people’s minds.”
Another comment read pointedly, “Almost as beautiful as your mother. You know, the person whom, without, you’d still be washing dishes in a pub somewhere without hot sauce.”
Brooklyn’s now-deleted Coachella post appeared an hour after Victoria shared photos from her lavish birthday celebration with the rest of the family, according to Hello! Magazine.
“Thank you for making my birthday so special. My family and my friends, I love you all so much xxxxx,” she wrote, tagging her husband David at the end of her message.
The celebrations seemingly took place in Miami, Florida, where the family enjoyed spending time in the sunshine on a yacht.
One of the photos showed Victoria posing with her birthday cake on the yacht, while another captured the other four Beckhams enjoying the Miami sunset.
The former Spice Girl also received birthday tributes from all four of her former bandmates, as well as various members of her extended family.
David, Romeo, and Cruz Beckham, along with Cruz’s girlfriend, singer Jackie Apostel, also posted heartfelt messages and sweet photos to mark the occasion.
