British-Pakistani TikTok sensation Zarriq Nazir has announced his intention to return to Pakistan and fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation by the National Cyber Investigation Agency. Speaking to Geo News, Nazir expressed optimism that the agency would afford him fair treatment throughout the proceedings.
Nazir, who commands a significant social media following, revealed he was an eyewitness to the arrest of fellow content creators Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala, whose phones were reportedly out of contact for approximately 48 hours following their detention. He admitted that his initial reluctance to join the inquiry stemmed from fears of blackmail, torture, and facing a similar ordeal to the widely publicized “Ducky Bhai” incident.
Despite previous apprehensions, Nazir stated he plans to return to Pakistan on Monday. He mentioned an initial intention to travel back with Nadeem and Rajab, but they departed without informing him.
Addressing the serious allegations, Nazir vehemently denied ever using or promoting any gambling applications or engaging in illegal activities. He asserted that the First Information Report (FIR) filed against him is “false.” Furthermore, he stated that he faces no legal issues in the UK or Dubai, where he has previously distributed prizes and cash. Nazir emphasized that all funds sent to Pakistan were transferred through legitimate banking channels, including remittances from Dubai.
The FIR, in which Zarriq Nazir is named alongside Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala, accuses the trio of financially exploiting the public. They are alleged to have encouraged investment in online trading, gambling, and betting applications through various social media platforms for personal gain.
The arrest of Rajab Butt followed numerous complaints and a formal request from Pakistani authorities. Police scrutiny of his visitor status ultimately led to the cancellation of his visa. In a related development, both YouTubers Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala have reportedly sought pre-arrest bail from the courts in connection with the online gambling promotion case.
