HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A strong cold front moved through Saturday morning bringing much colder temperatures and really strong winds! We had gusts to more than 40 mph over most of the area, and above 50 mph near the coast.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect through 3 a.m. Sunday morning for coastal areas only. But it’s still going to be breezy and very cold marathon Sunday morning.
What’s the weather looking like for the Chevron Houston Marathon?
Right now it looks like a runner’s delight! It will be chilly at the start of the race with lows in the mid 30s. It will be a bit breezy though so wind chill values will be even colder… around 25 degrees in downtown Houston. Afternoon highs will warm into the 50s under mostly sunny skies.
How about the weather for MLK Day and beyond?
The good news is it won’t be as breezy as marathon Sunday, but it will still start out cold. Temps will start out in the 30s, then warm up into the 60s during the afternoon under a sunny sky. The warm air really returns on Tuesday when we make back to the 70s. Even that won’t last long. After temps make it to the mid 70s Wednesday afternoon, another strong cold front will pass through and cool us off for the second half of next week.
