A courageous woman in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar thwarted a robbery attempt that led to the arrest of a previously convicted criminal, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident took place on the night of October 25 near Pehlwan Goth, where an armed man on a motorcycle tried to rob the woman. As the suspect attempted to flee, the victim showed remarkable bravery by hitting him with her car. The suspect was later captured by police on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
According to police officials, the arrested man, identified as Muhammad Ali Hajano, is a notorious offender who once spread fear in Karachi’s South District around 17 years ago.
Investigators revealed that Hajano had a long criminal record, including multiple charges of robbery, sexual assault of over 35 women, and the murder of a transgender person. He had previously served a 16-year prison sentence for murder.
Authorities noted that Hajano’s return to criminal activity highlights gaps in the post-release monitoring of convicted offenders. The police have launched a deeper probe to determine whether he was involved in other recent crimes in Karachi.
