Mumbai — Renowned Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma is reportedly preparing for her return to the film industry after a substantial break of nearly seven years. This time, however, she will be seen not on the silver screen but on the global online streaming platform, Netflix.
According to foreign media reports, Anushka Sharma’s sports biographical film ‘Chakda Xpress’ has returned to the spotlight, buoyed by the recent success of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team in the World Cup. It is anticipated that Netflix will soon give the green light for the film’s release.
Production Delays and Current Status:
- Filming for ‘Chakda Xpress’ was completed back in 2022, but its release was halted due to disagreements between the production company and Netflix.
- Capitalizing on the women’s cricket team’s triumph, the producers have now reportedly re-engaged with senior officials at Netflix India to push for the film’s release.
The Film’s Subject:
‘Chakda Xpress’ is based on the inspiring life story of former Indian Women’s Cricket Team captain, Jhulan Goswami, focusing on the journey and challenges of women’s cricket careers. Goswami was a key member of the Indian team from 2002 to 2022.
Anushka Sharma’s last feature film was ‘Zero,’ released in 2018, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan. This biopic could mark a significant and highly anticipated professional return for the actress.
