Bindi Irwin was unable to attend the yearly Steve Irwin Gala because of a sudden health emergency. However, her brother, Robert Irwin, was present at the event held in Las Vegas on Saturday and revealed that Bindi had undergone a surgical procedure.
In a conversation with PEOPLE magazine, the 21-year-old Robert stated, “She is expected to recover fully, but surgery was an unforeseen circumstance.”
He also mentioned that their mother, Terri Irwin, would also be absent from the gala, which celebrates the memory of the late Steve Irwin, in order to support her daughter’s recovery.
“She was just recovering from endometriosis, and now she’s dealing with appendicitis,” the star of Crikey! It’s the Irwins continued, emphasizing, “Health is truly paramount.”
Expressing admiration for his sister, Robert also noted, “Bindi has become a remarkable advocate, especially for women’s health, and I believe it’s crucial to prioritize seeking medical attention.”
Back in March 2023, Bindi had openly discussed her endometriosis diagnosis, sharing her experience on the cover of PEOPLE magazine in August of the same year. She made history as the first international individual to receive the 2024 EndoFound Blossom Award at EndoFound’s 12th Annual Blossom Ball in New York City.
