Despite ongoing family tensions, Billy Ray Cyrus publicly acknowledged his ex-wife Tish Cyrus on Mother’s Day. On Sunday, the 63-year-old singer took to his Instagram Stories to share that he and his family are “very close to complete healing.”
He began his lengthy post by stating, “Tish Cyrus was and remains the very definition of a strong mother. Believe me, I’ll be the first to admit that being married to me was not a simple task.”
Describing himself as “a very imperfect man,” he added, “I am quite skilled at making mistakes.”
For those unaware, Billy and Tish exchanged vows in December 1993 after meeting at a club in 1991. The former couple announced their divorce in April 2022 after three decades of marriage.
In his statement, Billy also acknowledged his daughter Miley Cyrus, saying, “I am incredibly proud of Miley and her resilience and courage. Her wisdom and strength were there when our family needed them most.”
Referring to the rumored strains within the family in recent years, the Grammy winner concluded, “We are on the verge of a full recovery.”
