Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, has transferred an additional $2 billion to his ex-wife Melinda Gates’ charitable foundations, a part of the agreement they made in 2024 when Melinda stepped down as co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. According to the latest Non-Profit Tax Filings, Bill Gates donated $982 million per capita to both of the foundation’s subsidiaries, bringing the total amount donated to Melinda’s four foundations to $10.8 billion. This amount is slightly less than the $12.5 billion Bill promised when he and Melinda separated, although a spokesperson for Pivotal stated that the agreement is now complete, with details about the remaining amount unclear.
Bill and Melinda founded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000, which is one of the world’s largest charitable organizations. The foundation, which has distributed over $83 billion in donations, has played a significant role in global health, particularly in the eradication of polio and reducing the spread of malaria.
