Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned the additional portfolio of Minister of State for Finance to Bilal Azhar Kayani, who currently serves as the Minister of State for Railways and the Head of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit.
Kayani’s appointment was officially confirmed via a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday, referencing Rule 3(4) of the Rules of Business 1973, and takes immediate effect.
The newly appointed Minister of State for Finance, an MNA from Jhelum, holds several significant positions and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).

He also serves as the Convener of the UK-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group at the National Assembly.
Regarding his political engagement, Kayani currently holds the position of Assistant Secretary General of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
This politician has previously been a member of various National Assembly Standing Committees, including those for Finance & Revenue, Law & Justice, and Economic Affairs. He has also served as an ex-convener of the Parliamentary Taskforce on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the Parliament of Pakistan.
Furthermore, the lawmaker — who possesses a degree in Economics from University College London — held the role of Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Economy and Energy during the 2022-23 PML-N-led coalition government and has also contributed his services at institutions such as JPMorgan, the Ministry of Finance, and the Privatisation Commission.
