ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s emerging talents Bilal Asim and Hamza Roman aced their way to glory as they annexed the ITF Junior Tennis Championship doubles title by routing compatriots Nael Qureshi and Huzaima Abdul Rehman 6-2, 6-3 in the final here at the PTF-SDF Tennis Complex on Friday.
However, the day held mixed fortunes for Bilal as he was outclassed by Japan’s Yoshito Oda 6-0, 6-0 in the singles semi-final. His compatriot Ahtesham Humayun also fell short, beaten 6-3, 6-0 by Thailand’s Kamonpanyakorn Thadapong in the other last-four clash.
Earlier, the duo of Russia’s Viktoriia Sedova and Hinata Wada of Japan won the girls doubles title decider after defeating the pair of Anastasia Melnikova of Russia and Kazakhstan’s Madina Omarova 6-3, 6-0.
