As her fans are well aware, Gigi Hadid’s sister has been navigating Lyme disease since she received her diagnosis in 2012.
In a recent open conversation with British Vogue, the beauty entrepreneur shared the ways in which her condition contributes to her fluctuating mental and physical well-being.
“If you have questions you want to ask, go ahead – and then, most likely due to my ADHD brain, we will likely veer off into many different topics,” she began, noting that their conversation might “go on for hours” because of her tendency to digress.
Reflecting on difficult moments, she added, “There are times when I’ve felt bad about myself for being so sensitive.”
Sharing further details, the 28-year-old disclosed, “For apologising so frequently, or expressing gratitude so much, or whatever those things are that sometimes people tease me about, where I feel I’m overcompensating.”
“I don’t think anyone truly grasps what it’s like to live with a chronic illness. Everything feels…” she continued, pausing before adding, “Taking a shower is difficult most days, I promise you guys.”
With this candid admission, the beauty mogul confessed that she sometimes skips a day, clarifying, “If you’re reading this, I do shower every day. But occasionally, if I have a day off.”
“If I manage to shower and make myself breakfast, I consider that an achievement. Our interview today was scheduled for 3 pm. I was in severe pain until 11 am and had a very challenging morning,” she revealed, then asked the interviewer to “make all of this sound a bit more elegant and less dramatic, perhaps?”
