Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliamentary Election is scheduled to take place in February 2026, and the Islamist party’s candidate, MD Mustafa Faisal, has filed his nomination papers for the Bogura-4 constituency. Faisal, a 38-year-old with a Master’s and Ph.D. in political science, has revealed his assets, revealing an annual income of 4.39 million Bangladeshi taka. However, he claims that he does not have a steady source of income in Bangladesh, instead earning a yearly income of 4.39 million taka from various professions, including education, medicine, law, and consulting, outside the country.
Faisal’s nomination papers also reveal that he has a flat in Turkey, valued at 65 million taka, which was given to him as a gift. His wife, Taslima Jahana Suriya, owns two flats in Bogura, valued at 50 million taka, which were also given to her as gifts. Additionally, Faisal has cash and electronic items, including furniture, worth 7 million taka, and his wife has gold worth 95 million taka, which was given to her as a wedding gift.
According to Faisal’s nomination papers, his total assets exceed 110 million taka, while his wife’s assets are valued at 145 million taka. The Islamist party’s candidate has stated that he spent around 10 years in Turkey, where he worked as a university lecturer and completed his Ph.D. His in-laws provided the funds for him to buy a flat in Turkey.
Bangladesh is scheduled to hold its 13th National Parliamentary Election on December 11, 2025, alongside a referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter (Constitutional Amendments). A total of 3,014 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for 300 constituencies across the country.
