Bangladeshi Air Chief A.K. Khondaker Passed Away at 95, Leaving Behind a Legacy
Dhaka, Bangladesh – A.K. Khondaker, the first Air Chief of Bangladesh, passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 95, according to the Bangladeshi media. As the first head of the Bangladesh Air Force, Khondaker had played a crucial role in shaping the country’s aviation sector. Born in the erstwhile East Pakistan, Khondaker’s career was marked by several milestones, including receiving the highest civil honor in the country, the Bangla Deshi Award, in 2011.
Khondaker’s journey didn’t stop at the Air Force. He ventured into politics and was elected as a member of parliament in the 2008 general elections. However, his entry into politics was marred by controversy, including allegations of making anti-Indian statements at a rally in the Bangladeshi city of Petrapol.
