Balochistan police have arrested 11 individuals suspected of involvement in the brutal murder of a couple, an alleged honor killing that has sent shockwaves across the province and drawn widespread condemnation.
The incident, which reportedly occurred just days before Eidul Adha, came to public light after a distressing video depicting the double murder circulated on social media.
Officials believe the couple, said to have entered into an arranged marriage, were shot dead in a premeditated attack carried out in the name of honor.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti provided an update on the case via a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He confirmed the arrests and reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice.
“…So far, 11 accused have been arrested, the operation is ongoing, all the people involved will be brought to justice. The state stands with the oppressed,” he wrote.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had stated that the government took suo motu notice of the crime after the video emerged, and a case was registered under anti-terrorism laws based on the state’s complaint.
He assured that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to act with utmost seriousness and apprehend every individual involved. “The law will take its course. Those who challenge the writ of the state and commit such barbaric acts will not be spared,” he declared.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind had also confirmed that the provincial administration is treating this case with the highest priority, with intelligence and security agencies actively working to pinpoint the exact location and circumstances surrounding the killings.
