QUETTA, PAKISTAN:
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has mandated that all provincial departments complete their approved Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) schemes by January 2026. The directive was issued during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review the progress of the development projects.
Mr. Bugti praised officials whose departments had made swift progress but expressed strong dissatisfaction with those who were lagging behind. He warned that the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team would be tasked with overseeing the prompt execution and ensuring the quality assurance of all projects.
“Reducing difficulties of the common man in Balochistan is the government’s top priority,” Mr. Bugti asserted, stressing that “All departments must adopt public service as their mission and play an active and responsible role.”
Expanding Urban Transport and Empowering Women
The Chief Minister announced several initiatives to enhance urban life and mobility in the province:
- Green Bus Expansion: New buses for the existing Green Bus scheme have already been procured and are expected to arrive at the Karachi Port in the second week of October. The fleet will be expanded to significantly improve urban mobility.
- Pink Bus Service Launch: To provide safe and dedicated transport for women, the government will soon launch the Pink Bus Service.
- Electric Bikes for Working Women: Mr. Bugti also announced a plan to provide electric bikes to working women on easy instalment plans, facilitating independent and sustainable transportation.
To streamline future development efforts, the Chief Minister instructed that all proposed schemes for the upcoming fiscal year must secure technical approval by May. This measure is intended to ensure their timely inclusion in the next provincial budget, reflecting a commitment to efficient planning and execution of public funds.
