A newborn baby swap scandal has shaken Quetta’s Janah Road-based nursery, with parents accusing staff of switching their infants. Following a complaint by the affected individuals, the police have arrested two employees of the nursery and are searching for the owner.
According to a resident of Quetta named Naeem, his wife gave birth to a baby boy on December 3, who was then admitted to the Children’s Nursery on Janah Road due to a complaint of jaundice. However, when asked to take the boy home on the fifth day, the staff told them that the baby was a girl and had recovered.
Another resident of Quetta, Muhammad Azam, also reported a similar incident, stating that his wife had given birth to a baby girl at home, who was then admitted to the same nursery. However, when they were told to take the baby home, they were given a dead baby boy, which they buried according to Islamic rites.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter, taking into account the testimonies of the affected parents. The two staff members arrested by the police include the head nurse of the nursery. An investigation is underway to determine the extent of the scandal and the people involved.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern among the public, with many calling for stricter regulations and accountability in the healthcare sector. The police have assured that they will leave no stone unturned in their investigation and will ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
