Pakistan’s T20 cricket captain, Salman Ali Agha, stated that the team is learning from its mistakes from the Asia Cup as it prepares for the upcoming T20 World Cup, adding that those errors will not be repeated.
During a press conference, he emphasized the critical importance of former captain Babar Azam’s presence in the squad. “Babar Azam is a world-class player and has vast experience of over 100 matches,” Agha said. “His inclusion will be a huge benefit to the team.”
Speaking on his own form, the captain candidly admitted, “My individual performance hasn’t been good in the last two or three series.” He stressed, however, that his top priority is to secure wins for the team. Discussing strategy, he mentioned they aim to score above the average score for any given ground.
Agha also identified the team’s key weaknesses, stating, “We need to improve our death bowling” and “batters need to work on their strike rate.” He noted that players like Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Nawaz would be utilized for power-hitting.
Regarding his captaincy, he clarified that he makes his own decisions on the field, does not receive messages from coach Mike Hesson, and will bowl if the team needs him to.
