Pakistan assistant head coach Azhar Mahmood has decided to part ways with Islamabad United in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), citing national duties.
According to reports, Mahmood terminated his agreement with United due to his commitments to the national team. He conveyed his best wishes to United for the upcoming edition of the domestic premier tournament.
United has appointed New Zealander Ian Buttler as Mahmood’s replacement.
Buttler will serve as the first-team coach for Islamabad United in the PSL.
Notably, United secured the previous edition’s title under Mahmood’s coaching, a former highly regarded all-rounder in the T20 format, known for his extensive experience playing in English county cricket and other leagues.
Mahmood also represented United in the inaugural edition of the PSL.
