Azhar Azeez Appointed Chief Executive of ISNA, Welcomed by Muslim Communities Across the United States

DALLAS: The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) has appointed Azhar Azeez, a widely respected social, religious, and community leader, as its new chief executive officer. He will assume office on January 1, 2026. The appointment has been broadly welcomed as a significant and positive development not only for ISNA but also for Muslim communities across the United States.
Mr. Azeez is regarded as a seasoned and dignified figure whose contributions extend beyond the United States to the international Muslim community. From participation in White House Iftar dinners hosted by U.S. presidents to sustained engagement in interfaith forums, he has consistently played a constructive role in presenting a balanced and positive image of Muslims within American society.
In addition to his public engagement, Mr. Azeez has held senior executive and chief executive positions at several prominent Muslim charitable organizations. In those roles, he oversaw large scale administrative operations, community based programs, and highly successful fundraising initiatives. Strengthening collaboration across diverse segments of the community and fostering collective action have been defining features of his leadership.
Mr. Azeez previously served as president of the Islamic Society of North America and has been associated with the organization for more than 25 years as a member of its board of directors. This long standing involvement has given him deep institutional knowledge and a nuanced understanding of ISNA’s mission, vision, and the evolving needs of Muslim communities in North America.
In a statement, the ISNA Board of Directors said the appointment of Mr. Azeez signals the beginning of a new chapter of dynamic leadership, innovation, and organizational growth, grounded in Islamic values and a commitment to collective service.
