Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana has revealed that his wife, Tahira Kashyap, did not believe he could ever become an actor, and even “started laughing and crying simultaneously” when he first told her his ambition.
In a recent interview, Khurrana recalled the time he and Tahira were dating while studying for their Master’s in Mass Communication at Panjab University. “I always wanted to marry Tahira,” he shared. “One day, she asked me, ‘What do you plan to do in life? How will you earn money?’ I told her I want to be an actor.”
Ayushmann described her reaction: “She started laughing and crying at the same time, thinking, ‘How can you be an actor?’ At the time, I was a bookworm, a studious young man. Looking at my face, no one could have predicted I’d become an actor, not even Tahira.”
The actor also credited his father’s strict expectations for helping him realize his dream. His father set a condition: “He said if I wanted to do theater in the field of arts, I would have to top my college. So, I topped my college for three years because I wanted to pursue a career in theater.”
He added that he was inspired by Shah Rukh Khan, noting, “There is no one more intelligent than Shah Rukh.” Following in his idol’s footsteps, Ayushmann also studied Mass Communication before finally moving to Mumbai.
