Avril Lavigne recently extended her heartfelt appreciation to her parents. The 40-year-old singer, who recently performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City, brought her mother on stage and documented the emotional moment on her official Instagram account.
“I brought my Mom up on stage last night !!!!” the “Here’s to Never Growing Up” hitmaker began her caption.
Lavigne continued, “Ever since I was a little girl, both my mom and dad saw something in me and encouraged me to practice very hard and pursue my dream of becoming a singer/musician.”
“They made a lot of sacrifices for me and I could not be where I am today without them. Mom, thank you for believing in me. I am grateful to both my parents. Thank you for everything, I love you both!” she concluded.
While performing on stage, Lavigne was filmed recalling that her mother had told her, “you’re going to be a singer one day” after Lavigne sang “Jesus Loves Me.”
“When I was two years old, she knew I was going to be a singer,” the pop-punk icon further shared with her audience.
Avril Lavigne is currently on her “Avril Lavigne: The Greatest Hits” tour and initially rose to prominence with successful tracks such as “I’m With You” and “Girlfriend.”
Additionally, she also co-wrote Kelly Clarkson’s breakthrough song, “Breakaway,” which was released as part of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement soundtrack in 2004.
