An armed man who was the subject of a welfare call Monday morning fired several rounds inside his family’s home and at police and is recovering after being shot by two Arlington officers. Arlington police Sgt. After confirming the presence of the emerald ash borer within city limits last week, the city’s parks department is working with the Texas A&M Forest Service and other city departments to monitor the spread of the invasive beetle. The non-native small green beetle is devastating to ash tree populations, boring its way into the bark of the tree where it lays eggs. The Richland Hills Police Department is investigating the death of a person found at a residence after code compliance officers visited the home and found the body Monday morning. According to police, code compliance officers were conducting an investigation at the home in the 6900 block of Park Place Drive at 10 a.m. after debris had been reported accumulating at the residence. Police are investigating a deadly shooting after a 33-year-old man and a young child were wounded by gunfire inside a vehicle in a Dallas neighborhood Sunday night. Officers responded to the 400 block of Alcorn Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on May 19 after reports of a shooting in the area. Board members of the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District have voted to approve the pursuit of legal action against a former high school principal who previously sued them. Dr. James Whitfield, the former principal of Colleyville Heritage High School, has been at the center of controversy since 2021 and was expected to attend Monday’s school board meeting.
