ISLAMABAD: Inflation measured through the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) posted a decline of 0.50 per cent for the week ended on Dec 30 driven by a sharp decline in the prices of essential food items, data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed on Friday. The data released show that SPI-based inflation posted a negative growth after an increase for the past two consecutive weeks. PARIS: Free birth control for all women under 25 will be available in France from Saturday, expanding a scheme targeting under-18s to ensure young women don’t stop taking contraception because they cannot afford it. The scheme, which could benefit three million women, covers the pill, IUDs, contraceptive patches and other methods composed of steroid hormones. Contraception for minors was already free in France. DHARAMSALA: The last surviving member of a small troop of Indian soldiers who escorted the Dalai Lama as he fled Tibet in 1959 has died aged 85, his former regiment said on Friday. JERUSALEM: Israeli troops on Friday shot dead a Palestinian man who allegedly attempted to stab soldiers and civilians at a bus stop in the occupied West Bank, the military said. Pakistan and India on Saturday exchanged the lists of their prisoners in each other’s custody and nuclear sites as part of the various agreements in place between the two countries.
