A suspected robber who barricaded himself at a Fort Worth convenience store on New Year’s Eve was arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery and felony warrants out of Kansas after a standoff that lasted until about 2 a.m Saturday morning. Fort Worth police arrived at the Shell Gas Station at 1908 Yucca Avenue at 8:42 p.m. on Friday, and SWAT was notified soon after. A multi-story townhome under construction in Arlington exploded and caught on fire early on New Year’s Day. Arlington Fire arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire near the 4100 block of Viridian Village Drive at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday. Arlington Fire Department investigators found that the explosion was the result of a gas appliance that was not fully turned off, according to a Facebook post. The first unit arrived on scene and found evidence of an explosion with a small fire. The affected building was unoccupied and suffered major structural damage.

Dallas police are seeking help to identify a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run on New Year’s Eve. The driver hit a man who was standing in the left-center of the road watching fireworks Saturday at about 12 a.m. in the 2600 block of Commerce Street, police said.
