A Denton police officer fatally shot a man who took a woman hostage early Saturday, authorities said. The incident began about 1:30 a.m., when emergency dispatchers received a call from a man threatening suicide who said he was having “problems” with a woman, police said. Police responded about five minutes later to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of McKinney Street, near South Woodrow Lane. Three Georgia men were arrested Friday in connection with the death of a security guard who was assaulted at a Mesquite gym last weekend. Cameron Alexander Walton, 26, Darius Antwann Williams, 26, and Xzaviour Maurice Williams, 20, each face a charge of murder in the death of 43-year-old Patrick Prejean, police said. The civil-rights trial of several Dallas police officers involved in the 2016 death of Tony Timpa can move forward after a federal appellate court declined to hear further arguments. The decision by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals paves the way for the case to move in front of a jury.
