Bitter cold temperatures and a chance of sleet, snow and ice are forecast by the National Weather Service for all of North and Central Texas by midweek — just before the one-year anniversary of the historic February 2021 winter storm. Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens behind a cold front Wednesday, presaging big changes to recent high temperatures in the upper 60s, the Weather Service’s latest forecast said. “Getting cold temperatures is looking like a pretty safe bet at this point,” said Jason Godwin, a meteorologist with the Weather Service’s Dallas-Fort Worth office. “… There’s going to be…

With sunshine and a southwesterly breeze, temperatures on Sunday climbed to 71 at DFW Airport, for a warm end to a gorgeous weekend. Fortunately, there will be two opportunities for some rain this week on Monday and Wednesday. Any rain for DFW on Monday will be light, generally less than a tenth of an inch, with heavier rain expected farther south. A big change in the weather will come on Wednesday…

Allred said he is vaccinated and has gotten…

HOUSTON, Texas — The Texas agency tasked with enforcing clean air rules often does not monitor industrial pollution during and immediately after severe weather events – often the height of emissions from refineries and chemical plants – leaving a hole in the state’s knowledge of air quality, according to a new state report. Industrial facilities, like oil refineries and chemical plants along the Texas Gulf Coast, typically shut down in advance of hurricanes and other storms to keep workers safe and avoid spills. But the process can cause pollution above what’s permitted or healthy. Emergency shutdowns and other accidents, equipment breakdowns…
