HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston’s “rally nuns” are back! But this time, they’ve got their running shoes on instead of Astros jerseys. You may remember the nuns making a splash in the 2021 World Series. Well, this time, they were part of the “steps for students” 5K in downtown to raise money for Catholic schools. Organizers said 8,000 participants raised more than $400,000 on Saturday. They said the nuns are very supportive of education, especially at Saint Agnes Academy, where some of them teach. The nuns normally live a quiet life at their southwest Houston church campus. But that changed…

BEIJING: Russian teenage figure skater Kamila Valieva tested positive for a banned substance, Beijing Olympics testers confirmed Friday, while American snowboarding legend Shaun White finished an agonising fourth in his final appearance. After concerns about Covid, human rights and man-made snow in the build-up to the Olympics in the Chinese capital, doping became the latest controversy to rock the Games. Reports of doping had swirled around the prodigious 15-year-old Valieva after the medals ceremony for the figure skating team event — in which she played a starring role to lead Russia to gold — was delayed this week. On Friday,…
AHMEDABAD: India crushed West Indies with a 96-run victory in the third One-day International here at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday to sweep the series 3-0 and give Rohit Sharma, their new white-ball captain, an impressive start. Shreyas Iyer scored 80 runs off 111 balls and Rishabh Pant hit a quicker 56 off 54 to propel India to 265 all out after the hosts won the toss and chose to bat first. In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 169 in 37.1 overs. India made a poor start by losing both Sharma (13) and Virat Kohli (0) in…
Can Muhammad Rizwan do any wrong? Not really, said Twitter Friday night as it lauded the Multan Sultans captain for his adorable mid-game reaction while playing the Lahore Qalandars. The inspirational Rizwan spread love and joy even in defeat — last night’s game was the first time the defending champions saw their PSL 7 winning streak snapped by a relentless Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. A 52-run victory for Shaheen Shah Afridi’s men showed why they have the most dangerous bowling attack as they defended 182. The Sultans’ big-hitters Tim David and Rilee Rossouw were effectively neutralised and their…
SYDNEY: Josh Hazlewood took 4-12 on his return from a long injury layoff as world champions Australia began the post-Justin Langer era with a comfortable 20-run T20 International victory over Sri Lanka in Sydney on Friday. Langer was always going to miss the five-match series, opting to rest after a long stint on the road, but his shock resignation last weekend cast a shadow over the lead-up. With interim coach Andrew McDonald at the helm, Australia were restricted to 149 for nine in their first T20 since winning the World Cup in November. But top-class bowling from Hazlewood, Pat Cummins…
