A 41-year-old man accused of dismembering and burning three bodies in a Fort Worth dumpster last year has been indicted on charges of murder and arson in a separate slaying. A Tarrant County grand jury handed up the indictment Friday against Jason Alan Thornburg in the killing of his roommate, 61-year-old Mark Jewell, whose body was found by firefighters after a gas explosion at their Fort Worth home in May. A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized after being attacked by a dog while on his way home from school in Far North Dallas on Thursday afternoon. The boy was heading home about 3:15 p.m. in the 3400 block of Timberglen Road, near Frankford Road and Kelly Boulevard, when a dog got out of a nearby apartment and bit him, police said. Frank H. McKnight, who shepherded circulation operations for more than 30 years — including through its contentious rivalry against the shuttered Dallas Times Herald — has died at 88. Known for his work ethic and devotion to his family, McKnight died in DeSoto on Jan. 27. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Saturday. SPRING, Texas — In the upcoming school year, bilingual pre-K students at Spring ISD will be learning English under a new program that trustees approved at their Feb. 8 board meeting. In a unanimous vote, trustees adopted the new “One Way Dual Language Bilingual” program, replacing the district’s old model.
