Armstrong was notified by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office his capital murder case was flagged, along with hundreds of other cases, after technical issues were discovered in a forensic software program commonly used in DNA testing. In August 2023, Armstrong was convicted of shooting and killing his parents, Dawn and Antonio Sr., back in 2016 as they slept in their southwest Houston home. Armstrong was 16 years old at the time. Justin Hardeway Jr. was shot and killed on July 11 just before 1 a.m. in the 8500 block of Broadway Street on Houston’s southeast side. Now, Houston City Council members are considering a new law designed to ban protests at private homes. But, the proposal is bringing up questions about rights. The company said restoration efforts after the derecho and Hurricane Beryl would likely cost them an estimated $1.8 billion.
