Stockholm: Scientists have discovered a woolly rhinoceros preserved for over 32,000 years in Russian permafrost, with its skin and fur still intact. The rhinoceros was around four years old when it died, and its well-preserved condition offers scientists valuable insights into extinct species. Professor Love Dalén, an evolutionary genomics expert at Stockholm University, explained that most Ice Age animal remains typically consist of bones and teeth, with little to no flesh or skin. He added that in the hundreds of discoveries made so far, it’s rare to come across such well-preserved remains like this woolly rhinoceros.
