Following the widespread circulation of a video on social media, Punjab police have taken a man into custody for employing abusive language directed at Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other government functionaries. The footage, captured amid Lahore’s recent intense downpour, depicted the elderly individual voicing displeasure regarding the city’s inadequate drainage infrastructure. In the clip, he is audible criticizing the provincial governance and utilizing derogatory terminology aimed at prominent government officials.
Subsequent to his apprehension, the man offered an apology and expressed remorse for his conduct, stating: “I extend my apologies to the Government of Pakistan for what I did.”
Significant rainfall in Lahore on Thursday resulted in extensive disruption and the inundation of lower-elevation zones. The downpour commenced around 5:00 am and persisted until roughly 11:30 am. A young boy tragically died from electrocution while bathing in water that had collected in an unoccupied area near Lari Adda.
