Anticipation is building for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series, slated for a September 2025 release, which promises significant upgrades.
A key change this year involves Apple replacing the ‘Plus’ model with a brand-new iPhone 17 Air, joining the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max.
Design and Display Advancements
The most notable design alteration is the iPhone 17 Air, rumored to be Apple’s slimmest iPhone to date, with a thickness of 5mm to 6.25mm. Its 6.6-inch screen positions it between the Pro and Pro Max in size.
The standard iPhone 17 will maintain a similar design to its predecessor but will feature an improved display with enhanced anti-reflective and scratch-resistant properties. The Pro models might transition from a titanium frame to an aluminum one, showcasing a back that combines aluminum and glass.
All models are expected to include ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate and an Always-On display, features previously exclusive to the Pro line.
Performance and Battery Enhancements
Apple will introduce the A19 chip in the iPhone 17 and 17 Air, while the Pro models will be powered by the A19 Pro, ensuring superior performance. Pro models will see a RAM upgrade to 12GB, while the standard and Air versions will come with 8GB RAM.
All models will incorporate a more repair-friendly battery design and support 35W fast charging.
Camera Upgrades
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will feature a triple 48MP camera setup, including Wide, Ultra-Wide, and Telephoto lenses. The iPhone 17 and 17 Air will boast a 48MP primary camera, resulting in notable improvements in photo quality.
Projected Pricing
Apple is expected to maintain pricing similar to previous generations:
- iPhone 17—$799
- iPhone 17 Air—$899
- iPhone 17 Pro—$999
- iPhone 17 Pro Max—$1,199
Launch Timeline
Apple is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 17 series between September 11-13, 2025. With the introduction of a new model, significant design changes, and performance enhancements, this launch could be one of Apple’s most impactful in recent years.
