A fierce controversy has erupted on social media between renowned Indian singer Lucky Ali and veteran writer Javed Akhtar, following a controversial statement made by Akhtar.
According to Indian media, the dispute began after a video of Javed Akhtar went viral. In the clip, he allegedly recounted an incident, saying, “Don’t become like Muslims, make them like you. It’s a tragedy that you are becoming like Muslims.”
Reacting to this statement, Lucky Ali took to X (formerly Twitter), posting, “Don’t be like Javed Akhtar,” and proceeded to call him “rude” (badtameez) and “ugly” (badsoorat).
Later, Lucky Ali posted a follow-up, seemingly clarifying, “I meant arrogance is ugly… That was wrong of me to say.” However, he followed this with a biting sarcastic remark: “Even devils can have feelings… and if I have hurt anyone’s satanism… I apologize.”
It is notable that while Javed Akhtar often presents himself as a progressive and liberal figure, he frequently faces criticism for allegedly targeting Muslims in his commentary and for his strong anti-Pakistan statements.
