The anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi resumed proceedings against Alima Khan, a relative of PTI founder, on November 26’s protest case. The court’s judge, Amjad Ali Shah, presided over the hearing. Alima Khan appeared in court with her lawyer, Faisal Malik. Special prosecutor Zehra Shah and her team were also present. Alima Khan’s lawyer completed cross-examination of six witnesses, including ASI Zahid, Constable Babar, ASI Kazim Raza, Assistant IT Police Tariq, Sub-Inspector Iqbal, and DFC Maraselin. A total of seven witnesses were cross-examined in the case. During the hearing, a video statement of Alima Khan was played on the screen. Cross-examination between the lawyer and prosecution turned tense. The prosecutor alleged that the lawyer was wasting the court’s time by asking unnecessary questions from witnesses. Faisal Malik responded that cross-examination is the lawyer’s right, and the prosecution cannot intervene. The court intervened, saying, “If you don’t want to cross-examine, we will mention it in the order. You should not ask irrelevant questions from witnesses.” The hearing continued for three hours without any break. The court adjourned the case until tomorrow, asking for more witnesses to be summoned.
