An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has issued a bailable arrest warrant for PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan over his failure to appear in court regarding the May 9 riots case. Ayub’s lawyer, Sajid Mehmood, confirmed that a medical certificate was submitted and that Ayub would appear before the court on January 30.
This latest arrest warrant is part of multiple cases filed against Ayub and other PTI leaders, including allegations of vandalizing Pakistan Air Force installations and government property. The May 9 riots, which saw widespread destruction of military installations, have led to legal battles for numerous PTI leaders, including Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The PTI has called for a judicial commission to investigate the events surrounding Khan’s arrest and the subsequent riots, a key demand in their ongoing negotiations with the government.
