Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has expressed relief after the settlement of her eight-year-long divorce with actor Brad Pitt. The agreement was officially finalized on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Described as “horrendous” by a close source, the divorce was an incredibly challenging period for Jolie and her family. An insider stated, “These last eight years have been extremely tough for her and her family.”
Despite the prolonged legal struggle, during which both parties requested a jury trial, Jolie chose to keep her grievances private. According to the insider, “She could have pressed charges against him; she could have told the world what happened. Her only goal was for Brad to get the help he needed and for their children to receive the support they needed to heal.”
Now that this chapter is closed, Jolie reportedly feels a sense of relief. “It brings her some peace that this phase is finally over,” the source added.
Jolie and Pitt first filed for divorce in September 2016 after two years of marriage and 12 years together. The couple shares six children—Pax (21), Maddox (23), Shiloh (18), Zahara (19), and twins Vivienne and Knox (16). The legal proceedings also involved a contentious battle over the ownership of their French estate and winery, Château Miraval, with both parties vying for control of the property.
