A Romanian court has placed Andrew Tate under house arrest following his recent detention in an investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The decision came after the anti-organized crime unit Diicot conducted raids in Ilfov county and Bucharest, apprehending Tate and five others on Wednesday.
Initially seeking a 30-day detention, Diicot’s request was modified by the court, which placed Andrew Tate under house arrest and his brother Tristan under judicial supervision for the same period, according to their representative, Mateea Petrescu. The Tate brothers have denied all allegations, calling them baseless.
The brothers, indicted in mid-2023 along with two Romanian women on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang for sexual exploitation, were previously under a travel ban.
Following the latest arrest, Tate posted on social media: “All they try to do is damage my name with complete bullshit.”
Diicot’s statement outlined the detention of six individuals on charges including forming a criminal group, human trafficking, and money laundering. The agency has requested that three suspects remain in custody, while Tate is under house arrest.
Two defendants are accused of using the “loverboy” method to coerce 34 individuals into producing pornography, generating over $2.8 million and 887,000 crypto tokens. Another defendant faces accusations of forcing a 17-year-old to create pornography and repeatedly engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old victim.
