Despite her reputation as a “scream queen” in Hollywood, Allison Williams admits she can’t watch a horror movie by herself. Williams confessed on The Sam Sanders Podcast that watching horror films makes her anxious.
The star of M3GAN 2.0 stated, “I am a capital W, bona fide wimp.” She elaborated, “I can only watch horror movies on planes. That’s the only time I can watch them.”
Williams’ career took a significant leap when she portrayed Rose Armitage in Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, Get Out. In the acclaimed film, Rose lures her Black boyfriend (Daniel Kaluuya) to her parents’ secluded home, where a sinister plot unfolds.
The actress expressed, “I feel extremely lucky, especially because the fans of horror are awesome, and without Get Out, I would not have had the opportunity to interact with them, I don’t think.”
Teasing her upcoming film M3GAN 2.0, she mentioned, “There’s two parts that are a little gory.” She shared that even though she had seen the prosthetics during their development, she still found them frightening when she encountered them while filming the actual scene.
Williams recalled, “I watched the hair and makeup tests of those things. I watched those prosthetics be developed. Without spoiling anything, I was part of all the sequence meetings for the stunt sequences, every single production meeting having to do with it, and I still on the day [of filming] got lightheaded and couldn’t look at the things in question.”
Following M3GAN 2.0, Allison Williams is set to appear in Regretting You, an adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name.
