A batting cage was set up in the heart of Klyde Warren Park on Thursday to kick off the festivities leading up to the 2024 Major League Baseball Game in Arlington next month.
Dubbed the “Knock It Out of the Park” event in Dallas, it coincided with the one-month countdown to the All-Star Fan Village opening on July 13, just ahead of the 94th All-Star Game scheduled for July 16.
The batting cage, themed around the All-Star Game, featured former Texas Rangers players pitching to youth baseball and softball players during batting practice sessions.
Jeff Russell, a former Rangers pitcher and two-time A.L. All-Star, emphasized the significance of the event as it ramps up excitement for an occasion that has been hosted in North Texas since 1995.
“It’s special because of the economic boost it brings to the city,” Russell noted.
Shawn Tolleson, who played for the Rangers from 2014 to 2016 during his five-year Major League career, highlighted that the All-Star Village will cater specifically to younger fans, offering interactive experiences to nurture their passion for the sport.
“I have three kids who are really excited about it, and we plan to attend as many events as possible,” Tolleson shared enthusiastically.
