In a thrilling Saudi Super Cup final in Hong Kong, Al-Ahli defeated Al-Nassr 5–3 on penalties after a dramatic 2–2 draw. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th goal for Al-Nassr, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win for his team.
The 40-year-old Portuguese forward reached his milestone with a penalty kick in the 40th minute after Ali Majrashi was penalized for a handball. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner became the first player in history to score 100 competitive goals for four different clubs.
Al-Ahli, the current Asian Champions League title holders, responded in first-half stoppage time. New signing Enzo Millot provided a well-placed pass to Franck Kessie, who slotted the ball low past Al-Nassr goalkeeper Bento to equalize.
In the second half, both teams pressed for a winning goal. Ronaldo tested Al-Ahli’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy with a powerful strike, while Firas Al-Buraikan hit the post for Al-Nassr. Marcelo Brozovic restored Al-Nassr’s lead in the 82nd minute, capitalizing on a poor clearance and firing a shot into the net from inside the box. However, Al-Ahli equalized again in the 89th minute when Roger Ibanez headed in a corner kick from Riyad Mahrez after Bento misjudged the ball.
In the penalty shootout, Al-Ahli converted all five of their kicks. Although Ronaldo scored his penalty, Al-Nassr missed one, handing the Jeddah-based club its second Saudi Super Cup title.
