HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another woman has filed sexual assault charges against Eric Sim, a now-former NASA engineer. Sim, 37, is facing seven counts of sexual assault for incidents that occurred between 2019 and 2023 and is currently out on bond.
According to charging documents, the woman met Sim on the Bumble dating app in February 2023. They went on three dates, and during the third date, Sim invited her to his home for dinner. The woman told investigators that after a house tour that ended in his bedroom, the assault occurred.
“Saying, ‘I don’t want to have sex,’ and then sex happened against her consent,” said Janna Oswald, division chief for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Adult Sex Crimes and Trafficking Division.
Oswald noted that the new allegations are similar to those in the previous cases against Sim. She did not comment on whether additional charges might be filed, stating, “We just take the investigation as it comes and make decisions accordingly.”
NASA confirmed to that Sim is no longer employed there but did not specify who initiated the separation.
Sim’s employment status and the obstacles he faces with court-mandated internet monitoring were discussed with Judge Peneguy in court. The judge denied Sim’s request to remove his ankle monitor, which Sim described as embarrassing.
Neither Sim nor his attorney, Neal Davis, commented as they left the courthouse. Sim’s next hearing is scheduled for June 25.
