**PESHAWAR:** Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has asserted that the initiation of accountability proceedings against former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed will have a positive ripple effect on Pakistan’s political landscape, signaling a commitment to broader institutional cleansing.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Governor Kundi confirmed that anyone else found complicit alongside Gen Faiz Hameed would also face necessary repercussions. The development follows a statement by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirming that proceedings for a Field General Court Martial against the former Lieutenant General have commenced under the Pakistan Army Act.
Kundi emphasized that no political figure is above the law, stating pointedly that the founder of PTI was “not descended from the heavens” and must face the consequences of his legal convictions.
### Governance Crisis and Relocation Demand
The KP Governor sharply criticized the current administrative situation, claiming that the province is being run from Adiala Jail, where the PTI founder is detained.
“The Secretariat has practically shifted to Adiala,” Kundi remarked, highlighting the bureaucratic paralysis resulting from conflicting directives. He noted the frustration among government secretaries who are confused about whose orders to follow.
Furthermore, Kundi urged the Punjab government to immediately relocate the PTI founder from Adiala, citing security and administrative concerns.
Addressing the security environment in KP—a sensitive province—he stressed the critical need for cohesion between the federation and the provincial government. Kundi warned that the actions of political leaders severely damage institutional morale, referencing an instance where the Chief Minister allegedly confronted a District Police Officer (DPO), which he argued undermines the police force.
### National Briefs and Economic Strain
Amidst the political developments, several key issues surfaced across the nation:
**PTI Financial Distress:** The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reportedly facing a severe financial crisis. The party has begun requesting 10 percent of the salary of every parliamentarian to keep operations running.
**Infrastructure and Development Delays:** Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal expressed serious reservations over the slow pace of the Karachi Yellow Line project over the past six years, noting that the project’s estimated cost has surged by a staggering 190 percent. Separately, the French Development Agency (AFD) delegation visited the NCG Headquarters in Lahore as part of ongoing cooperation efforts.
**Financial Transparency:** The Ministry of Finance announced a major push for transparency, confirming that details of assets owned by top federal and provincial officers will be made publicly available on a website by the end of next year. Assets will also undergo thorough scrutiny.
**Sardari System Critique:** Om Rubab Chandio, hailing from Dadu district, denounced the feudal (Sardari) system in Sindh, labeling it a “cancer” that has adversely affected thousands of people in the region.
**Customs Enforcement:** Pakistan Customs reported significant success in curbing smuggling, seizing gold and silver valued at over PKR 306 million during the last five months.
**Security and Law Enforcement:** In a brief update on a security encounter, police confirmed that suspect Bilal Abbas was killed in an exchange of fire, and his body was subsequently moved to a hospital.
### Travel and Safety Alerts
Severe fog blanketed various parts of the country, drastically reducing visibility and necessitating multiple motorway closures, including the M1 (Raskhai to Peshawar), M2 (Hiran Minar to Thokar Niaz Baig), M3 (Ferozepur to Rajana), and M5 (Multan to Zahir Pir and Rohri to Rahim Yar Khan).
Tragically, a collision between a bus and a trailer on the M4 motorway near Khanewal resulted in the death of a bus hostess and injuries to four passengers. A separate collision involving a passenger coach and a car occurred near the Pindi Road Oil Depot in Kohat district, KP.
### Political and Diplomatic Engagements
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif conducted meetings with global leaders during his official visit to Turkmenistan. Meanwhile, high-level political consultations continued, with Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas joining the central political committee. Representatives from Azad Kashmir (Khalid Khursheed) and Gilgit-Baltistan (Sardar Qayyum Niazi) are also committee members.
Separately, Federal Minister of State for Interior, Senator Talal Chaudhry, issued a stern warning, stating that any politician who crosses the specified “red lines” would see their political career terminated.
