Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Suhail Afridi, chaired a crucial provincial cabinet meeting where he made several significant public policy announcements, most notably declaring the formation of an Inquiry Commission to investigate the May 9th attack on Radio Pakistan.
Speaking during the session, the Chief Minister stated that the commission will be tasked with gathering all evidence, including CCTV footage, and presenting a comprehensive report to the cabinet to uncover the truth behind the incident.
Turning to economic policy, Mr. Afridi declared that making KP interest-free (Sood-free) is a foremost priority for his administration. He announced that a comprehensive policy is currently being drafted to rid the province of the “scourge of interest” and that the government intends to introduce Islamic Investment models.
Addressing the pressing political environment, the Chief Minister highlighted that the provincial assembly had passed a unanimous resolution condemning the alleged ill-treatment of the PTI Founder and Bushra Bibi in jail. He expressed his personal frustration, stating that as the Chief Minister elected by 45 million people, he is being denied permission to meet his leader to seek essential policy guidelines. Furthermore, he noted that the PTI Founder and his spouse are being refused access to their personal physician.
Mr. Afridi concluded by assuring the public that all government actions and reforms will be implemented in consultation with elected representatives, and the provincial government will rigorously enforce a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
