A comprehensive master plan has been prepared for the expansion of Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, aiming to position it as one of the most advanced aviation hubs in the world.
According to UAE media reports, the ambitious project targets increasing the airport’s capacity to handle 65 million passengers annually by the year 2032. Construction work on this major expansion is expected to begin within the next two years.
A key feature of the expansion is the integration of advanced technology. The airport is set to introduce a state-of-the-art biometric system for facial recognition. This new system is designed to significantly reduce passenger queues while simultaneously enhancing security measures.
Furthermore, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be implemented to improve operational efficiency, allowing the airport to predict potential flight delays in advance.
Reports also indicate that even before the full expansion, the airport is projected to handle 38 million passengers annually by 2030.
