HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’re already seeing a few showers and storms this morning, and those will increase through the day. Rain chances will peak in the afternoon with the best chance of rain coming for those along the Gulf Coast today.
What is the rain outlook for the rest of the week?
Rain chances still look promising! A disturbance rotating around the heat ridge will bring decent rain chances Friday through Saturday, peaking at 60% for Friday and 40% for Saturday. That’s when we’ll have the deepest moisture and strongest lift overhead to create thunderstorms. As an added bonus, high temps will stay below the normal high of 96 degrees. None of this rain will bust the drought, but it should keep it from getting worse.
Moisture flowing in from the north will give us decent rain chances the next several days. The wettest days will be Thursday and Friday at 60%. This will mostly be much needed rain but some brief, minor street flooding is possible. pic.twitter.com/t79JKf8rzN

What can we expect for the weekend?
After Saturday’s 40% chance, we’ll still have enough moisture around Sunday for a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.. High temperatures will rebound to the middle 90s on Sunday. We’ll make it back to the upper 90s next week.
What’s happening in the tropics?
No tropical development is expected in the Atlantic basin the next 5 days. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
