Pakistani military has launched a counter-operation in the Angoor Adda area of South Waziristan in response to Afghan militant activities. According to security sources, the operation has foiled the attempts of the Khawarij (a radical Islamist group) to infiltrate into Pakistan. The Khawarij were using Afghan Taliban’s posts to carry out their activities, but the Pakistani military’s operation has thwarted their plans. In retaliation, the Afghan Taliban has targeted the civilian population, resulting in three civilians, including two women, being injured. They were shifted to the Wana hospital.
The security sources stated that the Afghan Taliban opened fire unprovoked in the Zalukhel area of Angoor Adda, South Waziristan, and the Pakistani military responded with a counter-operation, destroying several Afghan posts. Drone strikes have been banned in the entire province since February 27. In a statement, the Ministry of Information alleged that the Afghan media is spreading propaganda about the “targeted attacks” on their soil, and the Afghan Taliban regime has nothing to offer to its people.
In a separate incident, three women were killed in a domestic dispute in the town of Milwala in Sargodha.
