Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Chairman Shammi Silva is set to step down from his position this week, according to local media reports. Silva will reportedly resign along with the Executive Committee, following which an interim administration will take over the responsibilities. Sources close to the SLC suggest that banker Eric de Vries is a strong contender to take over the reins of Sri Lanka Cricket.
The news comes after reports emerged last week that the government was considering Silva’s removal from the position. Silva has faced several allegations over the past few years, and local media has been critical of his handling of the Sri Lanka Cricket board.
